Name: Garyth Argentaile

Species: Human
--Sub-species: SoulShifter

Gender: Male

Age: 20 years

Appearance: As a human, he's average height (Five foot eight inches) and lightly built (135 pounds on average). He has piercing yellow eyes, and has a mixture of peregrine feathers in his brown silver-tipped hair naturally. He likes to wear simple clothes, usually a set of black pants and a light blue shirt with runes sewn into the outer edges. As a falcon, his coloration is simple and plain, though the trailing edge of his wings are a metallic silver in color.

History: Born and raised in the flying city of Windhaven (See other for more info), he learned from a young age the skills that would serve him throughout life. Abandoned at a young age in the City of Wind, Garyth thrived in the dark cornered alleyways by taking advantage of both his wirey human body and agile falcon form for survival. He eventually was taken in by a loney elf named Lucian at the age of seven in the GasBags district, who became both adopted father and mentor to the young soulshifter.
Throughout his childhood, Garyth learned everything about being an airman from Lucian... then took that knowledge out to the docks of Windhaven to make a quick gold coin or two by doing jobs that no-one else would do because of the danger of falling (Which he didn't really worry about too much, considering he can fly!). Along the way, he picked up a few bits and pieces of runic magic from watching the equipment in the ships at work, and taking apart non-functioning equipment to find out what went wrong.
This continues up till his teenage years, when Lucian entertains a master mage from the University of Windhaven. After a heated debate, and the mage in question casts a rune of cutting at the older elf... and is intercepted by a perfectly formed countershield formed by Garyth. Both men were surprised by this revelation, and shortly afterwards Garyth was invited to a few classes at the prestigious university. He quickly showed an almost-savant knack for runic magic, outstripping every apprentice and most journey men within the first year, and rivalling some of the lesser masters by the time he completed the coursework at the age of 16. He quickly took advantage of his unique position, forming a thriving business of enchanted gadgets, weapons, and even entire airships... though it wasn't without consequences. Envious of the soulshifter, other students would repeatedly bully the young man till he learned to fight back... and nearly killed a human student with a combination of runic magic and hand to hand combat. After that, he spends at least an hour a day practicing either hand to hand combat, or with his personal short spear Talon.
Not satisfied though, he spent most of his personal savings on the construction of a new airship of his own design named Silver Arrow. Building it himself in a leased dockyard, it took nearly two years of hard work before the Arrow could make it's maiden flight... and quickly proved itself to be the fastest airship around. After making a few design changes such as adding a tail turret for defense and remembering to add a fuel tank for the runic boiler (May have been fast, but being towed back was embarrasing), The Arrow was finally ready to become Garyth's home.
He quickly moved his business to the Arrow, and at the age of 18 gave into his wanderlust. He took to the skys, returning to Windhaven only rarely to tell his adoptive father not only of his adventures... but that he was still alive.

Personality: Upbeat, can be a bit intense and socially awkward. Will fight if he needs to, otherwise will find other methods of "problem resolution" usually involving reasoning and using his considerable charms. When he settles into a course of action however, he won't back down from it unless it becomes clear that there is a better method to what he's trying to do.

Weakness: Standard weaknesses apply. Due to an increased metabolism, he is especially vulnerable to poisons and sedatives. Also: From the sheer number of runic wards and enchantments he carries on his person, anything like anti-magic and ward-breakers would more-than-likely ruin his day. In addition, he's incapable of using "regular" elemental magic due to the fact that his soul is constantly in flux with his changing forms.

Abilities: Can shift between Peregrine form and human form at will. Can create runic magic, either using it to empower a weapon, protect a person, for a trap, or for a stand alone spell. Also, soul type spells and weapons have little to no effect on him due to his SoulShifter status

Weapons: Aluminum shafted, steel headed, and heavily enchanted short spear Talon. Also has a repeating rifle, but limited ammunition when he first started exploring meant that he's leery of using it.

Other Info: (Windhaven) Known as the City of Wind, Airship Central, and "The Old Rustbucket", Windhaven is a flying city, built in 1756 by a group of airship guilds as a headquarters... then slowly grew into the thriving flying metropolis is in today in 1840. Currently a neutral ground for all nations, it maintains it's independance with an enthusiastic volunteer elite military known as the WindGaurd. It has three districts, with each one layered on top of the other sandwich style. From top to bottom they are: Sunside, GasBags, and IronWorks. Sunside is the upper class district, and the only part of the city that sees regular sunshine all day since it's above the enourmous envelopes of gas that keep the city afloat. Gasbags is the largest of the three, forming the middle of tiers and containing the sea of canvas and cloth that forms the city's precious lift. Middle to lower-middle class lives here, maintaining both the docks and the city's interior and providing most of the labor. IronWorks forms the underside of the city, and is seen as the festering but required hole. The sun almost never shines here, having been intercepted by the two districts above and the cloud of smoke from the boilers and furnaces. Ironworks is the home to the lower class, living in conditions little better than needed for survival... and in some cases not even then.

Other Info (2): (University) Windhaven is home to the world renowned University of Sciences and Magics, a school for both the wealthy and the exceptional. Graduating from this university is a prestigious honor, made even harder by the 50% or more dropout rates due to the fast paced and hands-on curriculum. Length of attendance varies, and you are listed by rank from your accomplishments. Apprentices are those who just enrolled, and are the most basic students signified by the leather rune-medallion. Journeymen have show proficiency in one field or the other, and this is usually the highest honor attained by it's students. These individuals are signified by a brass rune-medallion. Masters are usually specialized, and have reached the point that their own research yields more results than learning from others. Signified by a gold medallion, this is the highest rank available short of the one and only Grand Master. The Grandmaster is the "principal" of the school, ensuring it's run smoothly... and is usually acknowledged as the best mage/scientist the world has to offer.
Had an idea after a certain RP of mine, and decided to put pen to paper.
