Literature Text

Name: Nerys Windborn

Species: Bio-engineered draconian with cybernetic implants

Gender: Female
---Orientation: Bi-sexual with female preference

Age: 26 standard years old (Estimated)
---Apparent age: Late teens

Occupation: Loner, hunter, occasionally will pick up odd jobs

Appearance
---Feral: Human sized body with a longish neck and a tail longer than the rest of her combined. Wingspan is the only thing that beats out her tail in length being twice as wide as she is long, and is the only hitch in her otherwise elegantly curved grace with it's angular ungainlyness serving to break up her outline. Wings are covered with pseudo-feathers, and the rest of her in scales. Both wings and body are a pearlescent white color when her mimetic ability isn't active. Scales are smooth to the touch, and overlap in an alternating pattern to bely their softness: there is no armor value to them. Claws are retractible and black in coloration, and her pawpads are a cream color. No horns, and simple cat-like ears adorn her triangular lizard head, with silver-irised eyes set into her face. Her snout is fairly short though, leaving her with an almost humanlike face with motile brow ridges and easy to read facial expressions despite the differently formed face.
---Anthro: Same coloration and size as her feral form, though her wings are capable of folding at a hidden joint so that they tuck in much more easily. This is handy, as flying is a laborious process in this form, considering her now humanized body. Her rear legs retain their paws, but from her ankle up they show a more human-like shape. Her forelegs change more drastically, her forepaws altering to become true hands while the legs become human-like arms. Her torso also changes, losing the barrel-like depth of her feral form, and showing womanly curves that complement her lithe grace while her neck and lungs alter to allow coherent speech.

History: The result of an international science mission between the Faythe Intersteller Federation and the Magisterium of Gorath based on the fringe world of Thor, Nerys' early life is a mystery even to herself. "Project: Thunder's Child" as it was to be known in the terminal phases of the program succeeded in their goals of creating a synthetic organism with mimetic scales, advanced thought processes, and flight by creating a dragon from early mankind's legends... In fact, they succeeded admirably in all respects but one: The resulting organism gained sentience in her third year of life, thus preventing her use or mass production as a product by the international corporations that funded the mission. As a result, the mission slowly hemorrhaged funding till one day... it just shut down. The last researcher gave Nerys on final pat on the head and a word of advice: Don't just survive, Thrive. Left to her own devices, the dragoness' survival instincts kicked in once the hunger set in, and for the first time... she ventured outside into the great outdoors of the rainy, terraformed world.
She grew to nearly a full-grown human's size in the next decade, and by the time she was in her teens, there were stories abound of some winged beast living in the northern forests. At what point it's unclear, but something in the human DNA of her genetic heritage finally reached maturity, and at the age of 14 she arrived at the only major city on the planet: Valhalla.
Now in her late 20's, the woman has reached maturity, and seems to have ceased aging. Having become a fixture of Valhalla's society, she's never-the-less rarely seen, and even more rarely befriended. Every year, in late fall she returns from the wilds to needed supplies she can't hunt, scavenge, or fashion for herself. Staying anywhere from a week to a month, she draws eyes around the city of 20,000 souls before disappearing into the wilds without a single trace other than her paid tabs and exasperated friends.
Not a single soul knows that she seeks to get off-planet, to see the starscape and to visit the homeworlds of her creators... and to maybe, just maybe find a friend that won't betray her like her creators did the night they left and forgot the loving dragon on this backwater world.

Personality: Calm and collected in situations she's familiar with, and many she isn't, she nevertheless can become quickly flustered and shy in social situations. Never-the-less she is steadfastly loyal to the few friends she has made, and shows classic draconian stubbornness where her morals and ethics are concerned.

Weapons: Natural weapons such as her claws and teeth, along with a hand-fashioned bow she constructed after finding the process on the public archives. Also aquired one of those survival knives that lasts forever, and a simple tomahawk.

Armor: None, her scales being as hardened as leathery skin.

Abilities: Mimetic scales make her hard to see when she's still, though it becomes a bit easier to see when she's on the move. None-the-less she will be difficult to see at any sort of long distance when she doesn't want to be found.
Capable of Flight, though only low altitude (Under 1000 meters) She is extremely agile in flight, however, making up for a lack in speed by being able to hover, turn on the spot, and otherwise outperform many other flying creatures and machines easily.
Advanced regeneration. She will never form scarring, and will regenerate damaged scales and even small parts of of her body such as fingers... Helpful, as she tends to lose the last six inches of her tail quite often.
Advanced Eyesight: As befits a flying creature, she has excellent vision, being able to resolve detail out to half a kilometer in good conditions, and over a kilometer in perfectly clear conditions

Weaknesses: Standard weaknesses apply.
Scales provide no armor value whatsover, and don't mask her appearance in the infrared spectrum very well unless she's very calm and very still. No matter her current condition though, UV and higher spectrum sensors will easily pick her up.
Low endurance in Flight. Unable to fly more than 2 hours at a time before needing to rest, she also isn't the fastest flier, thus preferring to stay groundbound as much as possible despite her love for the air.
Regeneration takes time. While she can regrow that last six inches of her long tail for example, it still takes several weeks to do so. The more complicated part, the longer it takes to regenerate... to a point where it won't regenerate at all.
Poor night vision. While her daytime vision is excellent, her nightvision is nearly as bad a standard humans due to an oversight by her creators.
Been an idea I've worked on, based on something that came up in an old RP I had with Holtzmann
Character belongs to me, BlakGarde

Special thanks to Holtzmann for help with the history and the starter idea that led to Nerys.
